I began working on mosaics about two years
ago as part of a plan to create a Secret Garden at the a local
Garden Project.
Although, sadly, this is no longer operating, I now concentrate
on creating mosaics mostly for pleasure these days.
I first began with the Seahorse Mosaic.
This was the first mosaic I created and it took me just a
few days to complete. This was constructed using slate
as a base onto which were fixed broken ceramic tile.
My next big project was the Golden Condor which was a permanent
fixture in the Secret Garden. The idea of this particular
piece was to not only provide visual impact but something
that would reflect the sunlight during the summer months.
I used gold and silver mirror tiles for much of the bird whilst
blue tiles (non mirror) were used for the background.
These latter tiles were laid out in a wavy patter to simulate
the sea.
Later projects have been concentrated on smaller
works such as vases, picture frames, small garden panels etc..
My last major piece of work was a small mosaic planter as
seen below.
At present I am concentrating on work that
involves more spiritual and natural themes for both internal
and external features/subjects.
